South Park Redistricting Hearing – 8/21/21 10am
The City of Los Angeles is currently redrawing City Council district boundaries through the redistricting process, which happens every ten years. If downtown is identified as a Community of Interest, it could be consolidated into one Council District (currently, it is separated into three)
On Saturday, August 21 at 10 am the City of Los Angeles Redistricting Commission will be holding a virtual public hearing for Council District 14. This is the downtown electorate’s opportunity to share their input and advocate for DTLA as a community.

Here are some sample talking points for those interested:
- DTLA is a clear community of interest. People move to DTLA to live an urban lifestyle that provides housing close to work, drive less and have more proximity to our world-renowned cultural institutions, museums, sports stadiums and restaurants.
- We need one DTLA representative with expertise of the community’s needs to ensure one unified vision. This gives DTLA residents the ability to elect a representative of their choice.
- Splitting DTLA into several different districts would dilute the Downtown community’s ability to vote as a bloc and influence the outcome of any of the council district elections. This would suppress the voice of Downtown voters.
